Alcatraz is one of San Francisco&#8217;s most popular tourist attractions and a National Historic Landmark. After 20 years of planning, the old cell house and auxiliary elements were finally rehabilitated and preserved according to historic guidelines. The column-like west-facing pilasters were rebuilt with new steel rods and recast concrete. Deteriorating concrete and metal were removed or repaired and concrete beams were surreptitiously added to strengthen the ceiling.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
