The new Headworks facility will provide a centralized, efficient, preliminary treatment system by replacing the functions of the existing Headworks’ facilities. Many of the existing Southeast Plant (SEP) solids treatment facilities are over 60 years old, so the replacement facility will be upgraded to meet current seismic standards and improve operational reliability.  Sewer and equipment updates are also planned. Smith-Emery is supporting the project by providing field inspection and testing, as well as laboratory testing at our San Francisco laboratory a few blocks from the project.
