The Santa Clara Family Justice Center courthouse is the first new courthouse in the state to be entirely devoted to family law, consolidating all family law operations from six facilities throughout San Jose into a single centrally located building. The eight-story building features 20 courtrooms in 233,906 square feet as well as significant improvements in security, with separate hallways for the public, staff, and in-custody defendants, and better safety, and improved access and efficiency for visitors. Because of its global reach and expertise, Smith-Emery was selected to perform not only all of the required inspections on the project, but also to oversee the steel manufacturing in Thailand as well as Stockton, California.
