As more students began enrolling at San Jose State University, the school needed to keep pace by building additional on-campus housing. Campus Village Phase II is a 10-story, student housing building for 850 residents that includes common study rooms, a lounge, a multi-purpose room, a recreation room, and other communal spaces. Smith-Emery conducted a full suite of tests for this building, that ranged from earthwork inspections to floor and roof installations, to shearwall sheathing, screws and nailing. We certified the quality of the spray-applied fireproofing, and the shop and field welding of all structural steelwork including for the stairs.
